A Shepherd King: The Story of David is a creative and engaging children’s musical created by Christy Semsen, with arrangements by Daniel Semsen, Nathaniel Semsen, and Noah Semsen. The story begins with a group of kids gathered at a sleepover during a storm who discover an old book and soon find themselves drawn into the life of David, from his days as a young shepherd and songwriter to his encounter with Goliath, his time as a fugitive, and ultimately his life as king. Through humor, imaginative storytelling, and memorable music, the musical brings the story of David to life in a way that is both fun and meaningful for young singers.

At its heart, A Shepherd King points children to the faithfulness of God and the difference He will make in a life surrendered to Him. Throughout David’s many adventures, the story highlights his trust in God through fear and uncertainty, his heart of praise, and the lasting covenant God made with him. With a performance time of approximately 37 minutes, A Shepherd King gives children’s choirs an exciting way to explore the life of one of Scripture’s most memorable figures while encouraging singers and audiences alike to trust God in every season.

Did you know the reproduction of lyrics in our musicals (printing, copying, or displaying them) in any format requires permission? To be compliant with copyright law, one copy of the music/lyrics must be purchased for each choir member. In the last 5-10 years, we have seen an increase in requests to purchase the lyrics for a kid’s choir show to display during rehearsal and the performance. Never before have we been able to offer this in a way that complies with copyright laws. Until now…

We are giving you the ability to legally use the lyrics if you purchase a Kids Choir Pack! There are four Kids Choir Packs to choose from, each including an increasing number of products and an increasing number of digital downloads of the choral book and listening tracks.
